Can Budget selection be mandatory when creating a Request, PO or Bill?
The short answer is no, selecting a Budget is optional when making a Request, PO or Bill, and the user can always select the "None" Budget, which basically means, no budget.
However, if your company would like to set up a mechanism to enforce all Requests and Bills have a Budget assigned to them, you can create an Approval Rule such as, if the Budget "None" is selected, to trigger the approval of one or multiple Approvers for that Request or Bill.
To set up an Approval Rule when the "None" Budget is selected, when creating your Approval Rule, add a Ruleset Criteria with the variable "Budget" is "None". Please refer to our article How do I set Approval Rules? for additional information.
