What’s the difference between “Invoices” and “Bills”?

For Accounts Payable (AP) matters, Bills and Invoices refer to the same object and the terms are generally used interchangeably. Their name stems from who is issuing it or receiving it:

  • Vendors issue Invoices to their customers
  • Customers receive Bills from their vendors

Because of this, ControlHub uses the term Bill on customers views, and Invoice on Vendor views.

Please note ControlHub does not generate or manage Sales Invoices (AR) for our customers, only Vendor Invoices (AP).
